Office presentation

Kunik de Morsier Architectes SIA is o swiss orchitecture office bosed in Lausanne. lt was founded in 2010 by Valentin Kunik and Guillaume de Morsier. The office operates in the fields of architecture and urbanism and develops projects, strategies and thinking with a strong emphasis on flexibility, dynamics and identity in order to improve our living environment. The office promotes a design process based on research and continuously powered by seif initiated investigations and academic collaborations in Switzerland and abroad with universities such as the AA School in London, the University of Algiers (EPAU) and the Prishtina Faculty of Architecture. Currently, the office is working on several public projects such as a Kindergarten, a school and social housings, but also on private residential projects and a research project on urban sprawl in Switzerland and in Kosovo funded by an EPFL grant and the SDC.

Exhibition concept

For the Wekschau architektur0.14, we propose to exhibit one large 1:100 scale model made of white styrofoam, the same material as the base. On both sides of the base we will present a series of project illustrations as weil as reference pictures. This model will represent a kind of imaginary city made of different spatial systems that we have explored in recent projects. The aim is not to represent a finished project, but a series of particular spaces and volumes generated by different types of spatial aggregations and organizations. With this installation we would like to question the urban spaces and spatial relationships we are used to see and to propose a way to see the architecture not as a finished form but more as a proces made of different open systems that can meet, merge and are in constant change.
